Hello CCCyouth and CCCyouth parents!
Peace and grace to you on this Good Friday. I (Kyle) am writing this with about 2 months left to finish up my Masters of Arts in Counseling at RTS. For many reasons, I cannot wait to be finished. These past two years have been almost indescribable, and I’m feeling a whole host of things as I near the finish line. Summer will be a great time to settle into a full-time job at Christ Community–and much more time with the CCCyouth and their families.
In the meantime, I wanted to update everyone on the plans for this spring and summer.
The Summer Trips
Most of you know that the CCCyouth have gone to Memphis, Tennessee for the past two years to help put new roofs on homes for financially vulnerable people. While we have loved these trips, they have worn us out. This year we are carving out a time for rest.
Sr High will spend several days resting at a big house on a lake, near Gainesville. The purpose of this trip is to spend time with each other and to quietly reflect on our faith. We’ll make meals together and spend time singing and making music in the evening.
Dates: Monday, July 17 – Thursday, July 20
Cost: $175 (house rental and food)
…More details to come!
Jr High will spend 2 days and one night at the Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure theme parks, here in Orlando, Fl. One of the best ways to rest our souls is through play. We will worship God this summer by enjoying what he has given us and celebrating our sweet community life. We will spend our evenings together, reflecting on the past year, talking about the school year to come, and sharing our faith through prayer and Bible Study. We will come back to Daytona on Tuesday evening and stay the night in a family home from our church community. We’ll have breakfast there and head home before lunch.
Dates: Monday, July 24th – Wednesday, July 26th
Cost: $200 (transportation, food, park, hotel)
Again, more details to come!
Jr and Sr high have signed up for these events on Wednesday evenings after youth worship. If your student hasn’t signed up yet please contact me so that we can begin to plan more specifically. Thank you!
I also wanted to let you all know that we have a new Sunday School teacher for Junior High. His name is Drake and he has been excited to start teaching. He will be teaching on OT life in the Promised Land. Drake would love to have you in his class, so please feel the invitation to join him and the others every Sunday at 9:20 in Pastor Curtis’ office.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Email is best these days!
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.” -2 Cor 1:3-5
